Mr. Powell was born in Salisbury, Maryland on May 16, 1972. Mr. Powell, a Dean's List Political Science major, received numerous service awards for his work with Habitat for Humanity and Homeless Outreach, as well as serving as an award winning columnist for the “Collegian.” Mr. Powell was also a member of the Sigma Phi Lambda fraternity and was listed in Who's Who of American College Students. In law school, he was elected as the First Vice President of the Student Bar Association for two consecutive terms. During this tenure, Mr. Powell represented Widener locally, regionally, and nationally in numerous regards. He was also a member of Phi Delta Phi, Harrington Inn, Honor Chapter. In law school, he was a law clerk at Ferry, Joseph & Pearce, P.A. until becoming associated with the firm upon the award of his J.D. Upon appointment by the Superior Court of Delaware, Mr. Powell represents persons deemed mentally ill in connection with their probable cause and other procedural hearings. In 2002, Mr. Powell was recipient of the Outstanding Pro Bono Service Award presented by Delaware Volunteer Legal Services. Mr. Powell is a member of the National Association of Elder Law Attorneys.
